Modern Management 6_ITC
Management Information Systems Douglas McGregor proposed two theories , the Theory X and Theory Y These are based on how people behave in their work . But most of the time , the behavior of people depends on the situation they are in . These two theories can be viewed as two kinds of attitudes of employees or a person In Theory X , people exhibit such attitude maybe because people do not agree with the end results of what they are doing and so they need to be forced to work . They could also have problems

with their working environment . They might not feel comfortable with who they are working with and feel unseasy with what is around him /her . There are also cases in which X theory persons simply have their own problems , so least we can do is to avoid adding more problems to them . Their attitude also depends on their mood , their habbit , vices , peers , etc . When dealing with these people , we should not be hasrty and harsh , try to encourage them and make feel that they are important
In Theory Y , people involved in this theory are those who want to do good work because the end purpose would and satisfy them . Another reason could be is that they just love doing what they do . When we deal with people with this kind of attitude , we need to explain thoroughly the purpose of their actions for them to practice self-direction and self control to accomplish their jobs well . Extracting their best potential could the the best thing that could help them . Of course , in doing such , they should be properly motivated . Complement on their good work and tell them that they could do better could do the trick
To have good outcomes , we should treat people as responsible and important and try to keep in mind that it is not how we motivate a person , but how we avoid to demotivate them
