In the United States all social institutions and programs rely on the law and the constitution for them to be valid . The existence of any social institution requires it to adhere to the law (Burdick Burdick 2008 . Currently there seems to be a contradiction between this constitution and the equal protection clause to the 14th amendment of the United States Constitution . This law gives the citizens of the United States power and freedom to do what they want as long as it is within the law without the interference of the state This amendment that sought to make all citizens equal in a way empowers the citizens and private organizations and restricts the powers of the state and the government (Burdick Burdick , 2008 . The law states that no state shall crate a law that restricts and represses the citizens immunities and privileges or deny any American citizen within the jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws

This implies that individuals have the right to bring any matter to court including marriage . This amendment was specifically made to maker the former slaves...
