Leader : The role of a leader is to motivate employees , oversee their progress and encourage them to give better performance . The leader also trains the subordinates and makes decisions regarding promoting and staffing . The leader also tries to keep a proper balance between the organization and the employee needs to ensure efficient operations . In an organization , a person who has several employees working under him takes on the role of the leader

Liaison : Another role of a manager is to develop and maintain relations with people outside and within the organization . The aim of such liaison activities is to get information for proper functioning of the manager and to give correct information about the organization to outside people . When a manager interacts with executives from another organization he is playing the role of liaison
