Micromanager Introduction Micromanagement is to manage especially with extreme control or concentration to details Is George Latour guilty of Micromanagement George Latour is the CEO of Retronics and he is guilty of micromanagement He 's been micromanaging the company 's new Marketing Director , Shelly Stern . She 's not his recruit but the board has chosen her . She is very competent and a good one . The company has been down on the brink lately due to the new technology . He is running out of strategies and the

board is counting on him . He was hired by the board because he has
an impressive credentials in engineering-scale systems and operations But lately when
the dot com bubble works he was running out of ideas . He has to make new approach to
convince investors . He needs a good and quality advertising . So here comes Shelly , the
Marketing Director . Her work simply affects and magnifies George performance in the
company . Here are some hints that George is guilty of micromanaging Shelly
a . She 's let her sit on some of the developer 's meeting
b She let her accompany sales /client 's call to let her see and hear from the
client 's directly
He 's even asked the CFO to explain the cash flow situation
He 'd kept editing her work
Explaining to her what really mattered to the customers , how they arrived
in their purchasing decisions
He insisted of two press releases per month even if there 's wasn 't any real
news report
Even if she 's ask for help--- an additional staff or at least an outside contractor he 'd insisted on making a list of what she 's working on and help her prioritize
He wants Shelly to be more effective in her job because she has the
potential . It would be fulfilling to mentor someone with her capacity But then again his
good intentions are not making a good result . Instead , Shelly is disconnected or
disengaged with her work . Why ? She thinks her work is not good enough for George
Every time she has an idea he kepts on editing and correcting her work . He was always
breathing on his neck as Shelly quoted . He doesn 't give credit on her work as a good
marketer . Actually , he is damaging Shelly 's self-confidence . He doesn 't accept her
opinions and is basically criticizing her work without even knowing it He is interfering
with her job and her ability of doing it right . He hovers over her trying to get her work
done and rarely , seriously considers her ideas and opinions
Conclusion
Micromanagement is a Mismanagement The micromanager handles required
management practices to the maximum and affects the employees ' ability to do their
jobs properly and causing undue stress for them . They don 't realize that they are
considerably controlling others
