in India from the 5th century BCE until the 13th Century CE when it literally extinguished from India due to invasions by Mogul and due to disciplinary degeneration in India . Tibetan recognised the 8th century Indian Padmasambhava as the nodal person to have pioneered Buddhism in Tibet . The Indian Buddhist yogi namely mahasiddha who was frequently referred as guru with the support of then ruling king Khri-srong Ide btsan [ 756-797] was able to inculcate and teach the most obscure of Tantric Buddhist ancestry to the Tibetan citizens what was turned to be the Nyingma or old school ' of Tibetan Buddhism . This ancestry was adjoined by the principal lineages in sequence namely Karma , Kagyu , Sakya and Gelugpa [Kadamba] . As these ancestry surfaced some schools emphasized mysticism and meditation and other monastic reason and discipline . [Sonia MacPherson , 1985]
