Buddhism had its origin in India from the 5th century BCE until the 13th Century

CE when it literally extinguished from India due to invasions by Mogul and due to disciplinary degeneration in India

The Buddhism is the predominant religion practiced in Vietnam . The Buddhist Sanghas are actively involved in the society and temples which often run orphanages , schools , homes for the disabled and medical clinics . It is to be noted that Lay subjects play a pivotal role in religious life . There are two sects Buddhism in Vietnam namely Zen and Pure land . Among the majority of the nuns and monks , Zen is being practiced predominantly . On the other hand , pure land 's practice and philosophy is being pursued by the secular and ordinary Vietnamese . For instance Truc Lam 's Zen Monastery is situated in South Vietnam Da Lat city and this being one of the largest Zen meditation study centers in Vietnam . The Truc Lam 's Zen Monastery is being taught by the respected Thich Tanh Tu , a well-known teacher in meditation over many decades . The learned lectures and teachings are followed , practiced , embraced and circulated in various forms of media through out the world by Vietnamese Buddhist

2 . Foundations of the Buddhism

Buddhism is based on the principle of samsara , karma and moksa . Samsara connotes the life and death which is normally unsatisfactory which is full of suffering caused by the actions [karma] that have their fundamentals in the passions and human desires . However , it is possible to reach liberation that is moksa and liberate oneself from sufferings by avoiding the passions . However , this is based on the practice of the path to liberation , which contains the practices like morality concentration and insight
