I Introduction

The modern society had witnessed the intense development of marketing strategies . In earlier days people were screaming on the middle of the streets to gain consumers attention , while others performs street performances to display the abilities of their products . Today however there are easier and more effective ways to get consumers ' attention Marketers can earn millions of sales commissions each month without even getting out of his /her house everyday . era of technology has made marketing both easier and more complicated

However , despite the increase easiness in performing marketing efforts people of the modern age have also grown harder to influence . They have to choose carefully between different marketing strategies to obtain the most effective marketing methods

In simple categorization , marketing methods can be divided into two types : traditional and online marketing methods . Each type uses considerably different marketing media . Both types represent various methods which has their roles , strengths and weaknesses in the modern society . Within this , I am discussing the differences between marketing strategies using online media and in-print media , and their impacts on modern society . The traditional marketing strategy uses various types of media . The easiest and most popular media is or in-print media . In marketing theory , marketing using in-print media is well known as the `direct mail ' method . The direct mail method has the advantage of cheaper and more effective form of advertisement . This is the reason of its popularity . Furthermore , in this era of technology , larger companies can even send mails to people who are actually expecting them , taking advantage of advanced marketing researches and personalized database

The direct mail method of marketing could be practices in various forms . Companies use the following media

Catalogs : Several pages contains promotions featuring a selection of products for sale

Self-mailers : Advertisements in the form of folded pages . The outer page contains only several `teaser words ' while the products offered are within the piece
