according to how essential the needs are for survival . Abraham Maslow , who is also the father of Modern Management , perhaps the most renowned needs theorist , ranks human needs on five levels . The five levels in ascending are physiologic needs , safety and security needs , love and belongingness , self- esteem needs , and the need for self- actualization . Physiological needs include oxygen , water , food , sleep , sex and activity Safety Needs includes freedom from danger , threat and deprivation Belonging Needs includes affectionate relations , acceptance , recognition and companionship Esteem includes self- respect , positive self- evaluation and regard by others last is the Self- Actualization which includes self- fulfillment and achievement

Maslow 's hierarchy of physical needs must be met before other needs become prepotent and so on , and the satisfactory of self- actualization needs is possible only after all needs are met .
