Marx's conflict theory

marx 's conflict theory

2004

The best tradition , which explains theory of conflict , is tradition leading from Machiavelli and Gobs to Marx and Weber . Machiavelli and Gobs laid the foundation of basic postulate of cynic realism in approach to human society . Idea and moral are not primary in relation to interactions they are created by society and serve interests to conflict parties

Marx added more definite lines of division by confronting interests and determined material conditions , which mobilize private interests for actions and make possible to express their ideas . Here

are key points of Marx 's conflict theory

The more irregular critical resources are concentrated in the system the deeper is conflict of interests between predominant and subordinate segments (social groups ) of system

The deeper subordinate groups start to understand their interests , the more probable is that they will start to doubt in legacy and justice of form concentration of critical resources , existing at present time

The more subordinate groups of system understand their interests , the more they have doubts in legacy of concentration of critical resources the more probable is that they should together enter into open conflict with dominating groups of system

The stronger is polarization of dominating and subordinated groups , the more violent is the conflict

The more violent is the conflict , the bigger are structural changes of system and redistribution of missing resources

These Marx 's key positions explain reasons and factors of conflict and their influence to peculiarities of conflict development

According to Weber , presence of groups in system (classes ) doesn 't need existence of inter-class conflict , which , still , is quite possible even in case it doesn 't appear openly . In his works Weber indicated that individuals belong to different classes , because they have different status and have different volume of power . These axioms , from his point of view , can be applied to all societies , but in order to prove supposition that there is constant structural inter-class conflict theory is needed , which will contain affirmation of existence of principal antagonism . In the other case we should realize that class struggle takes place only when we really observe its demonstration in strict forms of violence and irreconcilability . We can single out political spheres as sphere of chronic and endemic character of conflicts , but you cannot examine political conflicts as reflection of exclusively class or social conflicts . They can be shown as demonstration of competition , rivalry of elite groups , corporations etc

Simultaneous existence of emotional basis for solidarity , which , as Weber underlines , can be basis for cooperation , only adds differences to those , which exist between groups and tactical resources , used in these conflicts
