A Brief history of the reformation

Protestant reformation was a movement in Europe led by Martin Luther in 1517 . The movement was aimed at reforming the Roman Catholic Church After Luther introduced the movement , he inspired many Christians who had by then considered various church doctrines as false in the Roman Catholic Church . Among the issues that bothered these Christians and Luther , was the buying and selling of church position and corruption in the Roman Church . The movement ended in peace by 1648

Martin Luther 's teaching on salvation and its impact to protestant 's reformation

The question of why Martin Luther is so famous in salvation history has for long been unanswered . Martin was a reader of the holy bible , and in the course of his study , he came to realize that the Romans where misinterpreting some of the words written in the bible like righteousness . After taking a closer look , Martin concluded that the church 's opinion on the doctrine of justification was contradicting with God 's act of declaring a sinner righteous . Using the holy bible as his reference , he began to teach that salvation is a God given gift attainable only through believing in Jesus Christ as the only Messiah The fact that Luther referred righteous acts of believers as being performed in association with God gave the Christians who were worshipping God in fear and uncertainty to gain boldness in their daily worship and have more confidence in God . He went ahead and defined that righteousness didn 't just come from Jesus but righteous itself belonged to Christ . The way to get such righteous was not monetary , No . it actually required only faith . The idea of faith brought in more interest from Christians all over the world . This was because through faith , one would be just and lawful if at all they had faith . This was during a time that Roman church was so corrupt , and everything was valued in monetary terms . A source of encouragement for already confirmed Christians as they knew what Martin was talking about , was true according to their religion . Luther added , Faith is that which brings the Holy Spirit through the merits of Christ (33 .He actually looked at faith as a gift from God

One reason why faith and generally all of Luther 's teaching was of great impact towards the reformation of Protestants was the fact that faith was not earned . He felt that the Catholic Church was taking the opposite direction . This was however evident in the day to day activities of the Roman Church 's way of worship through practices like selling indulgences and practices like offering of sacraments

However even though Protestants churches bought Luther 's idea and actually implemented it , they are diverting from the exact teachings of Luther which were not advocating for the human relationship with church as the way to heaven .
