Martin Luther King , Jr is a prominent African American in the history of the United States of America renown for his civil rights activism in his life making him an important human rights icon even today . Martin Luther King Jr was born in Atlanta , Georgia on 15th January 1929 in a Christian family with his father Martin Luther King Sr . a reverend and his mother Alberta Williams King .
