Marie Curie
Marie Sklodowska-Curie is one of the most recognized scientists of all time not only because of her great discoveries on radioactivity , but also because she is a woman . Most often than not , women are stereotyped as the weaker sex . However , Marie never saw her being a lady as a constraint to living a life of scientific adventure . In fact , she wittingly surpassed societal standards which controlled her academic development and successfully made a legend of her own Since she was young , Marie had been proving and extending her intellectual capacities , especially in

Mathematic , Physics and Chemistry . Though circumstances were difficult , she managed to attain her dreams by exhibiting unfaltering passion and determination . Although she went agnostic at the age of 20 , her beliefs and advocacies were strong , value-based and humanity-oriented
Together with her husband Pierre , Marie revealed that radioactive properties are rooted mainly on the atoms of a radioactive element Moreover , the couple was able to discover two new radioactive elements Polonium and Radium , in their humble laboratory and was awarded numerous titles that led to their wide-reaching and respected reputation . The couple , with Henri Becquerel , was deemed a Nobel Prize in Physics while Marie alone received a Nobel Prize in Chemistry . She was the first woman to ever obtain a Nobel Prize , as well as the first person to receive two Nobel Prizes . She was also the first woman in Europe to achieve a doctorate degree in science , as well as the first woman to hold a high teaching position in the tertiary academe
Marie Curie is an exemplification of an empowered woman : simple yet original , brave yet loving , brilliant yet considerate . Despite all the tribulations that crossed her way , she never left her field and remained firm in what she believes in . Hopefully , her deep love for discovery commitment to truth and passion for science will live on through the times
