A Managerial Approach to Marketing
The China market is an increasingly important area upon which businesses should focus . Changes political , economic , cultural , and population structure have great influenced buyer spending power and provided significant opportunities for many global companies (Kotler et al , 2006 . However , China 's increased consumerism poses a large threat to the environment . One area in which Chinese citizens are looking to enhance the quality of life is through travel and this is a major concern to many environmentalists (CN Reviews 2008 . As one of the main contributors of carbon dioxide and pollutants , the fast

growing travel industry is responsible for 1 .5 percent of climate-damaging emission worldwide according to the recent reports from UN (Climate Neutral Network . In addition to this , tourists contribute to the damage of the eco-environment by polluting the scenic spots . I would like to explore the concept of utilizing virtual travel in to make travel available to the masses in China , whilst preventing some of the damaging environmental impacts associated with it
My idea is a virtual reality travel system that allows customers to experience a travel experience in virtual reality , as though they were there in person , without ever having to leave their home country . The system operates by projecting computerized images of a room , building campus , city or imaginary world onto a computer monitor or a tiny screen directly in front of the eyes . The innovation allows users to explore virtual worlds while moving around safely in their real physical environment . The reason why I have chosen China as a market is because of the size of the opportunity and the increased wealth of people in this country
This idea is currently not available on the market and provides an alternative to traditional travel methods . Traditional travel involves taking some forms of transportation to get to the desired destination in to experience the real scenery . These methods are usually expensive , time-consuming , damaging to the environment and do not always achieve the desired result as the success of the trip may be impacted by poor weather or may not meet with the traveler 's expectations . Not only does this invention eliminate some of the problems associate with overseas travel such as poor weather or crowds , the traveler can use the stop , pause , next , previous ' functions to customize his /her travel experience
The concept of green traveling will appeal to the technology enthusiasts on a psychological level through exploiting the notion that technology can improve the living conditions for human life and make a positive impact in the world . The product fulfills this expectation since it eliminates the emission of harmful substances in the air thereby decreasing air pollution and alleviating the effect of global warming and other environmental impacts
