the International Labor Organization (ILO ) indicated that globalization has considerable negative effects toward labor and their organization . Companies are increasingly exposed to international powers that force them to double their efforts to increase productivity and reduce costs or -in extreme senses- `die ' trying . Under these tremendous pressures from competitors and consumers , labor organization is diminishing in terms of their influence toward corporate employment decisions . In desperate times , companies are seeing labor and employees as burden instead of resources of the company . Often , when cornered some managers categorized labor cuts among the first choices of solutions . The study indicated that unemployment increases primarily in developing countries . In developed countries , there is another issue that resulted changes in labor concerns . Globalization has considerably shifted labor trends in the developed countries from manufacturing to service sectors . From the 1970 , even the economically dominant countries , like the United States and Japan , cannot do anything that has considerably increased the rate of employment in manufacturing sector To some extent , this created another problem within those developed countries
In to survive the diminishing market , manufacturing companies are performing downsizing activities with little regard of their worker 's well being . This examines the argument of whether labor rights are secondary to the survival of companies . With the increasing pressure on companies to increase their efficiency , this issue has grown in significance . Furthermore , there will also be discussion about the latest corporate decisions that involve labor rights and how can we diminished the negative effects of the decisions . This will use one of the greatest companies in the world , the Ford Motor Company , as the focus of study
