He started out as a dramatist in the 1820s and segued into serial writing in news magazines . It was his series of historical novels that made him famous and he gained a loyal following , not only in his homeland but also around the globe

the Count of Monte Cristo , which was published sometime between 1845 and 1846 . His earlier D 'Artagnan Romance novels were The Three Musketeers , Twenty years After , and The Vicomte de Bragelonne .
