MLK , Malcolm X and Civil Rights Struggle Introduction With the recent victory of the first ever African American President in the US , many people believed that the culmination of the civil rights struggle had been achieved . Yet , the struggle against segregation and for racial equality that had taken a long and tumultuous way in the history of America should always be remembered . Aside from initiating the change that realized the pillars on which America had been founded the civil rights movement also provided the people with two of the greatest and

noblest leaders that had ever lived Martin Luther King and Malcolm X . While both leaders shared the same crusade to fight against the injustice against the black people , both approached their struggle in different manners . However , the difference between these two great leaders does not merely rests on the oversimplified conclusion that the former followed a peaceful strategy advocating for benevolent assimilation while the latter advocated an aggressive and violent action against white supremacy . MLK should not be contrasted with Malcolm X in terms of integration vs . segregation or peace vs . aggression . There is a need to understand the context on which these two leaders speak and approached their activism in to dispel the mistaken conclusions that people make about them
