Place and time factor

Luke , the gospel 's writer , is careful to place this event simultaneously and paradoxically in connection with immediately preceding events in Capernaum , where Jesus has been acclaimed juxtaposing this pericope with miraculous events immediately afterwards . Here , the writer is emphatic that Jesus purposefully travels to his hometown . This is no random event , or any day of the week . This is the Sabbath day , the day of rest for the people of the God of Israel (Exod . 20 : 8 - 11
