Prufrock has "seen the moment of my greatness flicker but he is too vain to see how small and weak he appears by failing to act (84 . Prufrock notes "I have seen the eternal Footman hold my coat and snicker / And in short , I was afraid " but he still isn 't moved to take action (85 .
