Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies

If I had the opportunity to invite three characters from Lord of the Flies to my place for dinner , I would invite Ralph , Piggy and Simon I feel like that would be an interesting combination for good conversation and to allow them each of them to learn from one another Ralph is the one who represents decency and , a rational born leader . Piggy is rational , sensible and supportive while Simon is the deep-thinking Christ-like ' introvert . I don 't want to invite Jack because he always insists on being

the leader , doesn 't care about rules and when forming his own group , he turned the boys into savages

The setting would be a small island in the South Pacific . I would situate our buffet feast off the fresh water and in a palm leaf tent-like area so we are not directly in the sun or outside with the insects . I have fruit trees , wild pigs and fresh water near so I would roast a wild pig and serve it with tropical fruit such as pineapple coconuts , figs and kumquats that I cut up and put around the outside of the roasted pig . Because I have the advantage of fresh water nearby , I also cook up some fresh water fish

So I would have us sit in a circle and ask that as we go around the circle we tell that person first what we view as their strength and then suggest an area we feel they could work on . I would ask the boys why they followed Jack 's lead on acting like a savage , why they picked on Piggy and how did they feel knowing they missed being rescued by a passing ship when they were off being savages and let their fire go out . Because I have chosen three of the boys I feel are more responsible , I expect them to be in some way remorseful and state something to that effect and state in the words the way a pre-teen would verbalize them

I think what it would reveal is to see what they have learned about the experience , learn if they would do some things differently . It would reveal how the boys I have chosen were affected and influenced...
