Don Quixote The creation of Don Quixote took a great amount of imagination on the part of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra . This was because unlike popular literature at the time , Cervantes broke the mold and wrote Don Quixote 's character as a means of opposing the more commonly written works on chivalry and romance . Don Quixote himself was a man of imagination Because of imagination , he was able to immerse himself fully in his books of chivalry and even believed himself to be a knight in a similar story .
