supermarket wearing bathing suits to buy a single piece of snacks . The manager of the said market reprimands them for their scarce clothing . Sammy , the central character

and narrator , feels vehement towards the manager and decides on the spot to quit because of the ill treatment ' towards the girls As Sammy leaves the store , feeling heroic , he realizes that the girls have not noticed his outburst and have , in fact , gone already

8 Tone Matter-of-factly . Sammy narrates the story in his own voice opinions , and judgements . It is somewhat comic , but this can be understandable considering the age of the narrator

9 Style Foreshadowing . In the middle of the story , it is revealed that the story that Sammy has been narrating has already happened and he is merely re-telling it

10 Irony The ending of the story . When Sammy stands up for the three girls , he feels all heroic and gives up a very important job . The irony is that the girls do not even know that he has done it , making his decision all the more pathetic
