He bequeathed to the worlds its magical land , the Disneyland and Disney World . And most of all he gave the world its

His early life
Walt (short for Walter ) Disney was the fourth child of the five children (four boys and one youngest girl ) of an Irish-Canadian born businessman and farmer , Elias Disney and German-American mother , Flora Call Disney . Walt 's father first came to America from Canada to accompany his father , Kepple Disney , in search of fortune in California 's goldfields . However , his father left him in Ellis , Kansas where Elias bought a tract of land for farming and where he eventually met his future wife , Flora . Walt 's father do not seem to like to settle down in one place for a long time , and before and after Walt 's birth he had already moved to many places like Florida , Kansas and Chicago (Mosley 23-25 . In 1889 , he transferred his family to Chicago where he ventured in a business as a carpenter and contractor (Isbouts 13
Walt 's older brother Roy , the third child of the family , who was to be his close business partner in later years , was born eight years before he came into the world . Walter Elias Disney was born at home in Chicago , Illinois in December 5 , 1901 . He was named after his father 's close friend and Church Minister , Reverend Walter Parr . Five years later , his father decided to leave Chicago , concerned that it was not a safe place to raise his children . This time his father settled in a farm in Marceline , Missouri with his brother , and Walt 's uncle Robert .
