The most important aspect in our life is our health . For any nation to prosper , the health of its citizens should be taken care of . Ensuring the health of any community is a tedious process that must include preventative and curative measures . A comprehensive program that address health concern of any community must include primary prevention where various activities to maintain good health and prevent occurrence of disease are carried out , secondary prevention where there is detection screening and

treatment of diseases to maintain health , and tertiary prevention which is geared towards recovery and rehabilitation from diseases . Therefore all the three levels of prevention are important to ensure health problems in the community are well addressed

Secondary level of prevention constitutes preventative measures which are aimed at maintaining the health of an individual . The main goal of secondary prevention is for immediate identification and diagnoses of disease in the earliest stages before the disease develop noticeable symptoms . This means that secondary prevention aims at handling the disease when it is likely to be treated (Mainie et al , 2005
