Breaking the Norm

Normatively in the society , individual 's actions and thoughts are being guided by socio-cultural principles and norm significantly embedded in the social structure and values . These norms are not guidelines that are set to determine what is right or wrong but to implicate what is proper and ethical regarding one 's personal thoughts and action in his or her social environment . These social norms serve as the structural guidelines to proper social values that must be followed in the aspect of respecting the personal rights of every individual p

However , the said social norms do not have specific commanding structure that they are not meant to specify what is right or wrong instead , they only imply the principle to reason out the proper action or thought . Because of these , people often do have different interpretations to a single social norm thus producing the aspect of cultural differences in the society . This difference is often influenced by the upbringing experiences of the certain individual from his or her personal social structure or cultural society . In addition , social norms are basically not seen as laws or commands thus one can actually decide whether to break some of it or choose to adhere to only few of it . This decision is basically up to the personal views of every individual however , this decision will mainly reflect and influence the social characteristic of each person in their respective social community

Breaking one 's personal social behavior is not a matter of legal aspect punishable by any law . As stated earlier , social norms are merely guideline for one 's personal social behavior in his or her own social community . However , breaking this norm will result to an inappropriate action thus affecting one 's personal views and the social individuality of others . Violating such norms will lead to one 's disregard for the right of other such as privacy , security , opinion and others

As a personal opinion and experience , this author had also expressed some thoughts and intention to actually test and contradict personal social behavior . This manifest through the act of intrusion to other 's privacy while within social community . It is a basic norm of every society , culture , and individual to respect one 's privacy even if in public unless thus , each and everyone must be resolute and proper in conducting their personal businesses to avoid disturbing others . In this manner that this author has violated the said dominant social normative act while in public by intentional and immediately eavesdropping to the private conversation of another individual using a personal mobile phone . During the said act , this author purposely disregarded his personal social norm of respecting other 's privacy by listening intentionally to a private conversation

As the act was discovered , specific reaction can be observed mainly from the victim of the intentionally disregard for proper social behavior . For the victim , feeling of irritation can be dominantly observed in his reaction as he moved away from the scenario as he was offended...
