Running head : LEADERSHIP THEORY AND PRACTICE Introduction I am involved in a class project on career research . It involves finding out the most rewarding careers , both financially and in terms of job satisfaction . We are also trying to link certain skills with particular careers so on graduation , people can seek jobs in the right sectors . Our group is headed by one of the students called James . He was a natural choice for leader because of his skills and abilities to provide direction , moderate debates and encourage discussions . In analyzing his performance

, I would say that James is very adept in his situational approach to leadership and the way he adopts the leader- member exchange model in relating to the group . In this I will be reviewing the James 's performance from the leadership perspectives of the aforementioned models
James can be described as a warm , outgoing individual who is helpful to those in need . He is patient and non judgmental . He strives to treat every one fairly and gently corrects those he believes are in the wrong On most occasions , he will take up his time and resources to assist not only a member of the group but any student on campus to solve a pressing problem . James likes to lead by example and balances this by delegating to those who show promise in achieving the group 's objectives . He can be firm when the situation demands though I have only seen him lose his temper on two occasions...
