Several models are used in leadership in view of its ever changing nature . These models are transformational leadership , business leadership , servant leadership and spiritual leadership . These models are accompanied by a number of influence processes which leaders use to influence their workers in a bid to change their approach to their duties into suiting the organization 's goals and objectives . There are many influence approaches a leader can use but the main ones are Direct decisions

, role modeling , reward system , selection and promotion of other leaders and allocating resources

Introduction

Leadership is a very powerful thing . It is basically a process of influencing the thinking and beliefs as well as the development of other people . Leadership is a journey of transformation which starts with self leadership . It then goes to the stage of one-on one leadership , team leadership and finally organizational leadership (Nanus , 1992 Leadership can be best described as the process in which the leader is able to influence others into performing beyond the activities that are commanded by people in positions of formal authority . The extent to which an individual takes personal initiatives and the risk the initiative patents to the individual is the main factor that distinguishes a leader from an executive . A leader must start by knowing who they are and to whom . This helps one get a clear perspective on their lives (Bolman Deal , 1997
