Latin America has institutions which are traditionally rooted in presidential system and attempts to change the system have been rejected by the electorate . Unlike other Eastern Europe countries which have changed to more democratic institution , Latin America has remained entirely with strong presidential system even after most of the countries in the region adopted democratic governance . The institution transition in Latin America has largely taken the shape of strong presidential institution , which indicates that authoritarian legacy remains important to most regimes in the region . people believe that presidential traditions for Latin American countries are good Those who are strongly opposed to the system argue that a parliamentary system would be far much between for emerging economies but it is evidently true that the presidential system in most of these nations will not emerge to a parliamentary system . Going by the experience of Argentina , Bolivia , and Brazil , which have attempted to change to parliamentary system , it is quite difficult and transition to democracy in the region will be an uphill task . Electorates in these countries have outright rejected any attempt to replace the presidential system with a parliamentary system .
