‘The Knight of the Burning Pestle’

(Name (Course /Subject (Professor (Date

The play of Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher , `The Knight of the Burning Pestle ' is a comedy that focused on the events and feelings of ordinary citizens in a city . It basically talks about the play The London Merchant ' however with some comments and reorganization from two citizens , George and his wife . Thus , in a socio-political perspective the play tries to illuminate the importance that ordinary citizen can attribute to significant play /acts or to actual life in the city or in any community

As can

be reiterated , the play started with the citizen talking about `giving the play a spice of ordinary life of an ordinary man (a grocer perhaps ) then giving such man a significant role such as that of a knight . In such instance , it can be interpreted that the play would like to show the significance of ordinary citizen . The play is then catered for the taste and perspective of the common people . However , the knight in the play carries a golden pestle as his arms against villains , not a sword or spear as ordinarily portrayed . The golden pestle serves as a trademark that the knight came from the middle-class as an apprentice of a common grocer , to be specific . This shows that not all knights came from noble or upper-class origin and shed light to the reality that even ordinary people has great contributions to a kingdom or a city

The main plot of the play the London Merchant ' also shows a socio-political theme , since...
