The New Frontier is a term popularized by John F . Kennedy on his speech after winning the 1960 presidential nomination election for the democrats . Kennedy could only imagine the impact his speech on the new frontier to the history of the Americans . It became America 's theme towards its programs . Kennedy basically wanted four things in the New Frontier : Space exploration , peace , equality , and prosperity

Space Exploration - the space race

was going on during the 60 's . It was a race between Russia and the United States . Although the Russians were the first to break out of the earth 's gravitational pull , it was the Americans that put Neil Armstrong 's (and the rest ) footprints on the moon . It was Kennedy 's vision to put a man on the moon by 1970 . Peace - World War II was still fresh , and the Cold War was at its coldest Kennedy 's term was known for The Bay of Pigs ' a standoff against Russia . In the end , the war remained cold . Equality - it was during Kennedy 's time when women were fighting for social equality . As a response , Kennedy passed the Equal Pay Act , which prevented companies from paying less to women who do the same amount of work .
