Management of people or resources is a complex undertaking with multiple facets . It exists at the lowest level of an organization up to the top most strategic positions . It is a brood term which encompasses almost all the functions of a business at every level of hierarchy . It can be applied to various fields of study and to everything that needs to be planned , organized , lead or controlled

Planning , controlling , leading and controlling (along with coordinating are termed as the main functions of management . These are not however all that management (or

managers ) are limited to . Their scope is limitless and varies according to what is required . Most of managerial tasks however can be divided into the four aforementioned processes

It entails setting standards , benchmarks etc . and then arranging resources accordingly so as to assist the overall management function . A hierarchy in a firm too is an organization but of people . By doing so , people are managed in a proper manner , following a chain of command according to a set standard . Organization in its simplest form for a production line manager could be thought of as arranging materials in the inventory so as to make them available easily when needed . To avoid confusion , these materials be they tools or raw materials can be kept in a pre arranged manner and ever one using them should be encouraged to follow the same rules of sorting them .
