Jesus and Muhammad , A Comparison

The lives and deaths of Jesus of Nazareth and Muhammad were very different from a historical perspective . Perhaps as a result of that fact , the two have been worshiped historically in very different ways with Jesus deified , and Mohammed remaining a prophet of the one true God ' The differences between the two both in their lives and their teachings are reflected in the manner in which both are worshipped today

(Muller , B . 1997 )There is very little historical confirmation of the facts of his life , but one can extrapolate some of what he did and saw before his 30th year based both on scripture and contemporary accounts of political and social history (Muller , B 1997 )Jesus was born at an inn , or hostel while his parents were en route to a population center to be accounted in the census . While he received no formal education (few in his region at the time did ) he was acknowledged as a learned individual at a young age (Muller , B . 1997 According to scripture , Jesus never displayed the knowledge of reading or writing . His story was written by his followers well after the fact Jesus ' own teachings are quoted in the Gospel as his word . After a largely undocumented childhood and adolescence , Jesus appears again historically in Cesarea , Judea in about 26 CE (Muller , B . 1997 ) After being baptized with a large crowd by John the Baptist , Jesus went into the desert for forty days , where he was said to be tempted by Satan (Muller , B . 1997 ) He left the wilderness after the arrest and imprisonment of John the Baptist . At that point , Jesus is said to have traveled to Galilee , where he spend a good deal of time working in Capernaum (Muller , B . 1997 )He also began to speak about the teachings of John The Baptist , and garnered respect as a leader of men as he approached his 30th year . It is at this time that tales of Jesus healing the sick begin to arise (Muller , B . 1997 . As his reputation spread , he became harassed by the crowds of the sick and poor in Capernaum . Jesus reported acts of healing , calming the seas , walking on water , and feeding multitudes with short supplies . As he attracted followers , Jesus began to preach his primary messages . He spoke of the poor being blessed by God , the need to find salvation through faith , and generally being nice to one-another . In the spring following the execution of John The Baptist , which coincided with the furor associated with Jesus ' healing of the sick , Jesus came to Jerusalem , and was met with great acclaim (Muller , B . 1997 ) The locals began to refer to him as Son Of David (i .e : King of the Jews (Muller , B . 1997 ) He famously cast the moneylenders from the Temple of Jerusalem the next day .
