Running head : JESUS MOHAMMED Name Institution Introduction Mohammed was born in the year 632 AD to Abdullah (by then deceased ) and his wife Amina . As per tradition he was sent to live with his grandfather for his early upbringing . At the age of six is mother passed away . Two years later his grandfather also died . Following these tragedies , he was brought up by his uncle , Abu Talib , a businessman . By the age of twelve he was accompanying his uncle on business trips to Syria and as a consequence got to

learn the trade . He gained a reputation of being an honest and trustworthy person . Khadijah , a wealthy businesswoman decided to employ his services for her benefit This business relationship soon blossomed into a love affair and he ended up marrying her . In the year 610 AD he received his first revelation and began to preach a return to monotheism . By the year 621 AD he was fully enlightened and had begun to gain a following . He was persecuted in Mecca and his life threatened because the brand of religion that he was preaching called for the destruction of idols and the practice of idolatry . He fled to Medina in 622 AD where he was able to unite the warring tribes and convert them to Islam . Over time his influence spread all over the Arabian Peninsula and with the conquering of Mecca in 630 AD he was able to establish a base for the religion of Islam . He died two years later having accomplished a great deal of work in converting other faithful to Islam
His untimely death after a period of sickness precipitated a brief succession struggle that was amicably resolved . His successors continued to promote the religion by conquering hostile lands and converting the people to Islam . At the time of his death , Mohamed had left behind a body of literature known as the Quran . These were the written records of the spiritual revelations that he received during his lifetime . Also recorded were the rules and procedural practices that the followers were to follow in their practice of the faith . These were put together in what has been come to be known as the Sunnah or in some instances referred to as Hadith . Followers of Islam regard him as the last prophet from God and place him in the same category as Abraham , Moses and David from biblical times . Muslims thus regard him with great reverence and consider any belittling of him as a just cause for a holy war or jihad against the offending party . They pray to Allah (God ) and follow the teachings of Mohammed in their daily lives . By reading from the Quran in their daily prayers , they adhere to the spiritual revelations of their prophet in their lifestyles . In mosques and at open air meetings , Muslim teachers preach the Islamic faith to all that would care to listen . In other parts of the world , they overthrow regimes they consider to be moderate in their practice...
