The story To Build a Fire ' by Jack London told the tale of a man who ventured through the harsh weather despite being warned by a wise old man before departing . He encountered a dog along the way which eventually became his companion . The story also entailed the importance of building a fire in such harsh weather conditions , and also how to keep watch of time as the traveler would not want darkness to befall on him

. The will discuss the man 's characteristics of keen observation , experience in the wilderness , and his full focus on getting to the destination on time . However , it will also focus on his flaws such as his arrogance and overpowering attitude which probably cost him his life in the end

The man was observant . This was evident at the first few parts of the poem as he showed that he was observant with the changes in his surroundings . These changes could hinder his path towards his destination as it can cause unfortunate circumstances for the man , which he did not wish to experience .
