There are two theories that try to explain why juveniles commit crimes The first is the General Theory of Crime by Gottfredson and Hirschi This theory states that lack of self-control is not the sole reason why people commit crimes and that there are other factors that could contribute to the development of personality of the people . The second theory is the Interactional Theory by Thornberry . This theory states that the social environment (delinquent peers and delinquent beliefs have a direct affect the delinquent behavior .
