The time had come for the older generation who had made mistakes to move over and let the new comers find solutions to the problems that faced Americans . They did not want to repeat the mistakes that the older generation had done , like the wars and the crusades against the `red menace

These ideas motivated their white supporters and the black students from the South who were fed up with the policies that ruled them before .
