The Italian Renaissance art can be characterized as the birth of humanist attitudes . During the Renaissance period , which started in the town of Tuscany and bloomed at the towns of Florence and Siena , man was recognized as the navigator of his own destiny and not God . Italian Renaissance art can also be characterized as the merging of science and arts . Artists have efficiently used mathematical calculations and anatomy in portraying

objects . Furthermore , artists during this period were focused on how to depict objects as realistic . These were the exact reasons why Italian Renaissance art was different from other art present during the Middle Ages . The trend was somehow influenced by a touch of Arabic art acquired through trade

Italian Renaissance painting was known for being simplistic but with grandeur and nobility . The objects were depicted as realistic and life-like as much as possible . The best example of this is the Mona Lisa ' by the Renaissance Man himself , Leonardo da Vinci . In this particular work , the woman was painted as if a real human . The portrait was simplistic and yet it provokes nobility and grandeur

For the meantime , Italian sculpture was known for being natural depicted with emotions , and concerned with the use of proper posing During the Renaissance period , a popular pose of sculptures was rampant - the contrapposto . Here , the human sculpture shifts its weight to its one leg . For example , Donatello 's bronze statue of David clearly shows the above mentioned characteristics . The statue was depicted as natural and realistic . Furthermore , the contrapposto pose was evidently seen as the statue shifts its all of his weight to his left leg

Finally , Italian architecture is said to be an influence of combined classical antiquity and Christian ideas . Churches were regarded being the highest form of architecture . No wonders that the most famous architects during this period have worked on building churches and cathedrals . One of this is Brunelleschi who made the copula of the cathedral in Florence References
