Issues and Arguments
It is pretty evident in the world today that poverty is a growing problem that we have been continuously facing . Some people continue to be an advocate to fight poverty and yet most of us continue to go on with our day to day lives acting as if this problem does not exist . Why bother right ? I mean , it 's not our problem to begin with . The poor should have had enough will power to work hard enough to carry themselves out of poverty . Then again , the question of poverty and more importantly

, the answers in solving it is never as simple as that
In the work of Earl Shorris 's On the Uses of Liberal Education : As a Weapon in the Hands of the Restless Poor , Earl gives us an insight on how it is to be poor and why poor people remain there as if they had no choice regarding the matter . In his interviews with Neice , a woman in prison , she shed light on how alienated the poor feels against the rich and how it incapacitates them from being anything more . This is why Earl took the political ' viewpoint on poverty by writing this
By saying that he was being political ' about the issue , he meant that the issue should be dealt with in regards to the relation of poverty to the community that surrounds us . It is political in a sense that the issues should not only be dealt as in a third person point of view problem . Instead we should see it in a way that it connects to us as if it was our very own problem affecting our lives , our families and our communities . I guess he was right , I think the problem of poverty has gotten so big and so out of hand simply because we and even those who are poor fail to see it as a problem affecting all of us that we loose the initiative to do something about it
It may be true that most of us still parade around in our lives saying that we advocate the cause of getting rid of poverty , but are we really sincere in finding the answer against it
If we really think about it the problem of poverty is deeply rooted in our point of view that the poor shall continue to be poor and helpless and the more we make them see that they are a cause that will never prosper unless offered help , I think poverty will remain an problem in this world
While ofcourse there are still a lot of shocking sides to this problem the fact that we remain indifferent to it will keep it growing . We need to stare this problem in the eye as if the reality of the problem truly exists that there are real people behind those eyes . Until we remain the way we are towards this issue , we can only pray that another innocent child doesn 't die tonight of hunger...
