Domestic violence can be termed to mean the pattern of abusive behavior that may be used to relate to a person on the bases of the sex and that that one encounters in their home . This happens when a spouse or a member of the family decided to dominate the other . Women happen to be the most affected by domestic violence and thus there is the need to protect them in the whole state Thus there is the need to come up with some policies that will help them to cope up with domestic violence . This makes it necessary to come up with the policy with the procedure , protocol and the appropriate steps to take so as to deal with the domestic violence . It would also report investigate and respond to domestic violence involving people in the working places (Walker S Katz C .M 2005

In the police department in America , there is a personnel department of the domestic violence incidents which deals with all the activities involving the domestic violence . These departments have two sides . The first one is the one that takes that someone has been assaulted and the second one is the one that takes that a crime has been committed as defined in RCW 10 .99 .020 (5 ) and also that domestic violence is a relationship incidence as defined in RCW 10 .9 .020 (3 )and actions must be taken (Walker S Katz C .M 2005

In the police department today , there are some anti domestic polices today that help to protect the affected people . A good example is the Kent Police Department which conducts thorough background scrutiny on the police applicants which includes searching for their involvement in domestic violence , child neglect incident , child abuse and any other past or existing court s that may relate to such incidents . This helps to get department personnel that are free from any form of domestic violence

Also , all the candidates in the department are required to take a psychological test before being employed to show that they have no indication of involvement in violence . This shows whether they have been involved in violent or abusive behavior . During the training process candidates are give a copy of the policy and those that are commission are given a basic domestic violence training at the academy to help them change or rather have a positive approach to the issue . Those who are involved in domestic violence and those who see or are aware of the domestic violence incidents are supposed to report to the command duty officer or the on duty commissioned supervisor .
