Leadership means having the ability to influence and direct activities of their teams towards achieving certain objectives . To company managers , leadership would mean having the ability to lead other employees in attaining the set sales revenue and profits . To political leaders , leadership would be leading their followers to attaining the goal of improving their country 's standards of living . Leaders at the helm of their organizations therefore have to be skilled and experienced enough to convince those following them that it

is really possible to attain goals . These leaders must therefore develop philosophies that are consistent with what was agreed in their respective teams , or in the case of political leadership politicians must develop visions that are agreeable to the majority of their electorates (Leboeuf , 1999 . It is these philosophies that distinguish them from others in the field and competitors , as well as creating a big following for politicians

These philosophies are the ones that leaders in different industries mostly have in common . It is their leadership skills that make them successful in attaining the set goals and leave lasting legacies in their professions . Some of those philosophies will be addressed in this through an interview with one of the leading policy makers in the United States . Further , this writer 's leadership philosophies will be illustrated and compared with those of the interviewee . The comparison will aid in understanding works on both parties how both philosophies are parallel on issues and how they disagree . The last section will be a report on analysis regarding different leadership philosophies and styles , and how their results .
