Introduction

For the purpose of my study I interviewed one of the top-mangers of a manufacturing concern . Manufacturing firms have been facing difficulty in their operations al over the world . This is mainly due to increase of fuel prices which led to increase in the prices of raw material and several other consumer goods as well . Following is what I gathered from the interview as explained by the manager himself . The name of the company and the manger are kept secret due to their internal corporate policies

The Dilemma

Management

of the company had been recently facing a huge pressure from the employee unions to increase the wages of its employees . A number of other firms in the industry have been facing the same situation . Several firms have yielded to some increase in the pay-scales , however , in this severe period most of the companies can not afford to do so . The result is that most of the companies might even loose the experienced and skilled management professionals to other firms or may be these employees might just choose to resign just to increase the pressure on the firm . This will only worsen the current scenario . Now I as one of the senior mangers was appointed by the board of directors to do the analysis and give my decision as to what should the company choose to do
