Listening skills play a great role in the efficiency of communication . The main problem of the most of the participants of a dialogue is that they prefer to speak mostly . They do not like to listen . And they just hear when the do not speak . But to speak ' and to hear ' are completely different notions . To hear ' means just to perceive some voices produced by the speaker and to listen ' means to understand the information submitted but the speaker . The most important thing to understand here is that

the speaker feels who is listening and those who just are hearing him . For each of us the recognizing of our importance and knowledge is the most important . Consequently when one sees someone who is really listening to him (not just hearing ) - he likes this person (who is listening ) because this person by the process of listening recognizes the speaker 's skills and intelligence . Besides when one is really listening to a person he is able to get very more exact data about this person because he is listening , not hearing . So listening makes a very clear difference in my communication proceedings . The listening process is the most useful in professional area That can be quite easily explained . If you listen to someone (for example , to someone among your authorities ) paying most attention to each of his words - so , the more efficient will be your professional activities . If you want to be professional in you job area - you have to listen very and very attentively in not to loose any piece of information submitted by the speaker as this information can result to be extremely important for you and for you carrier . If to speak about the listening process I feel most strong in my professional area . There are many examples of that . When I started my professional activities it seemed to me that my general manager (whose subsidiary I was ) was speaking too much and that his speaking was not clear for me . But when I started really listening to him more attentively , I understood that he was right . For example , when he was telling me that I had missed some important points in my (I 'm an import- manager ) and when he was calling the points which I had missed - I wasn 't perceiving his meaning well enough . But in the course of improving my listening I started understanding step by step that there were really some points which I 've missed . That is because just before I was looking to my general manager and I was perceiving his mood , not his words and later I started to perceive his words , not his mood and that gave me a great deal of support in my job activities
