International Court of Justice Case: Australia versus Turkey

International Court of Justice Case : Australia versus Turkey

As per the limited information given I would have to vote in Turkey 's favor

The reasons voting in Turkey 's favor are

1 . When Michael Hogan was found in Abdul Mete 's home , no other suspects are mentioned

2 .Michael Hogan has blood on his hands and shoes this proves that he had made contact with Abdul Mete . Though one could make the argument is that he could have come in contact with Abdul Mete 's body , after Abdul Mete had already

been killed . But since Michael Hogan was found at the crime scene , that is Abdul Mete 's home , holding the apparent murder weapon , the reassures us that Michael Hogan 's intents weren 't good , as under normal circumstances the innocent call the hospital , police friends or neighbors but don 't hold the murder weapon , thus this solidifies the argument that Michael Hogan had made contact with Abdul Mete before his death and as there was no one else found at the Abdul Mete 's home the only suspect is Michael Hogan

3 . Since at the time of arrest he didn 't claim to be a foreign national it was to be assumed by the Turkish authorities that he was a Turk , thus it is not the fault of the Turkish authorities that Michael Hogan was not informed of his rights as per the Vienna Convention of 1973 , which had been ratified by Australia and acceded to by Turkey

4 . Michael Hogan 's motive for murdering Abdul Mete was money as Abdul Mete was a merchant while Michael Hogan was only doing meager jobs

5 . When the Turkish authorities were informed by Michael Hogan that he was an Australian national , they did their part by contacting the Australian Consulate in Istanbul , thus Australia loses an important edge that it could have used by arguing that Michael Hogan was framed or set-up by the Turkish Government

6 . The fact that Michael Hogan didn 't want to contact the Australian Consulate further leads us to believe that he might not have wanted anyone , whether it be the Australian authorities or his friends from Australia to know about the crime he had committed in Turkey

After analyzing the case , we see that all facts point towards Michael Hogan as the murderer but of the facts help Michael Hogan to prove that he is innocent . Thus my vote would have to be in Turkey 's favor
