I am strongly motivated to apply at Baker College because I feel that I need the right values and ethics as I pursue higher academic studies . I have heard that this College boasts of a mutually supportive , powerful compassionate and open-minded community and staff where I can best pursue my career . I have heard how the administrators of Baker College encourage peak performance from its students and this kind of excellence is what I need in my chosen course . I have come to regard the Baker College as one of

the best options for a person like me who wants to pursue only the best . I am d and at the same time excited at the prospect of being considered for admission here

I believe that the MBA / Human Resource Management program is designed to meet the needs of a diverse population especially people who are into its graduate business education . I learned that the MBA /HRM program requires a practical background in business , and that the course will require at least three years of relevant experience that would be helpful for graduates . This is a necessary and not an optional issue in this course because it lays a solid background in actual happenings in the workplace

I also know that the first months of business school are loaded with stress . I will probably be in an unfamiliar environment , surrounded by people I do not know , and be expected to produce more work faster than I ever have before . In addition , I may be competing with people of a higher quality than I have ever encountered before . This , combined with my high expectations for my own performance , can generate tremendous pressure . But I know that with my past experience as a team leader and an administrative assistant , this pressure can motivate me to work hard in a focused fashion

I am confident that this program is especially designed for persons who work within the personnel or human resources area where I have had considerable experience . I am especially excited that the core business course here gives students exposure to issues that confront the human resource manager everyday . It is noteworthy that students will be exposed to practitioners in human resources , to the constantly changing roles of different managers and personnel of the human resource department , as well as relevant issues pertinent to the changing workplace . I am confident that the course produces students who will be well-trained human resource specialists able to provide the kind of services needed by today 's dynamic workforce

I would describe myself as having a competitive attitude . My academic and personal goal when I started off was mainly to be able to start strong and finish strong . It was more a goal since I wanted to maintain my study habits especially at a different setting . The role of learning for me is to learn from all the experiences I get . Even the greatest performers fail , but many of them have developed strategies to help them learn or benefit from these experiences . I do not like falling short of a goal , but I also do not view it as a personal disaster or an indication of personal inadequacy . I merely conclude that this time this particular approach did not work . I do not need to tear myself down in response to loss . I simply have to prepare myself for a better opportunity next time

I can say that my level of professional competence in problem solving oral communication skills , information retrieval and collaboration was average before I became serious with my studies . Learning to be a good performer in one activity tends to habituate to certain approaches and procedures in attacking other activities . Specific skills will be hard to transfer but what can be transferred from one activity to another - sports to studies , for example - is the art of improvement . I have learned to improve myself continuously this time and focus on specific targets no matter how small , both in my academic and professional life This relaxed focusing is a learned skill that I need to practice in to perfect it . I practice this to this day and this has built my self-confidence to start new tasks and learn at the same time

My personal goal in this new phase of my life is to take responsibility for my life which involves self-management competency . I believe in effective self-management that will do well in this new phase of my life . That is why I am hopeful that my new experiences if accepted at Baker College will hone my skills more . Often , when things don 't go well , people tend to blame their difficulties on the situations in which they find themselves in . I have learned that effective self-management does not fall into this trap . Self-management competency includes integrity and ethical conduct and personal drive and resilience . My learning insight is that self-management does require much time and effort . I remember what Dee Hock , the man who built the powerhouse Visa card that he would often say to managers , Invest at least 40 percent of your time managing yourself - your ethics , character , principles purpose , motivation and conduct

Today , more than ever , I know I need to be equipped to the challenge In recent years , international expansion has become commonplace in U .S businesses , there is an increasing need to understand foreign environments , business methods and the techniques of adapting management processes and organizational behavior to new and different conditions I foresee some problems , though , as I trek this career path since I know that I still have a lot of areas to improve on ...
