Addressing the Four Goals of Designing the Graph

Overall Pattern . To start off , I had to determine what style I wanted to use in presenting my data . Since I wanted to compare the population of the three states , particularly with regard to each state 's diversity in population , I figured I needed something that will be able to show the data alongside each other . Since I would be comparing datasets , I decided to use a graph and a table . To achieve balance and alignment , I made sure the fonts used were consistent not

only for the texts , but for the titles . I also made sure that the colors I used for the title headings were the same . The color scheme or slide layout I chose is very visible , with the bulk of the data in white - making it very prominent . I believe the colors I chose are appealing , and makes an impact on the audience

Arrangement . In arranging my presentation , I was most conscious about making sure that the visual appearance of slides looked consistent . In terms of proximity , I also made sure that the texts in the graph were not too crowded , and that there was ample space on the slide with the graph so as not to make the data look crowded , which may confuse the viewer

Verbal Elements . The lettering style I selected was Arial , and is clear and easy to read , and I used Times New Roman for the textbox within the graph . The letter size and spacing was also appropriate , as I made sure the font size were large enough to allow the audience to read the data without difficulty

Appeal . For some surprise element in the presentation , I made use of animation effects , wherein the textbox will appear in different animation styles on each slide . The texture of the slides rely primarily on their color scheme and background style , which I believe looks professional yet creative . I however did not use any animation effects on the graph itself , since I felt that may distract the audience from its relevance , and since it showed different colored bars within the graph , these bars in themselves provided a visual experience to the audience without need of any more animation . As for the interaction the dataset for the graph was not presented , that way I can discuss it myself to an audience , allowing for more interaction , rather than making them just read the percentages . Such percentages were deliberately not shown in the bar graph so as to allow more interaction between myself and the audience

Assessment of My Work

It was difficult to present empirical data in a clear but coherent manner . I discovered that the hardest part about preparing for a slideshow presentation was selecting exactly which of the data I wanted to highlight . It meant that I had to narrow down a specific and area of interest from the data source which I wanted to discuss and share with my audience . I couldn 't just...
