In a world where online curriculum is becoming more and more common , it is important that designers be able to ensure student learning . Since classes are many times taken without the aid of a teacher , the courses must be designed in a way where institutions feel comfortable giving students credit for these classes

As far as providing guidance , the course designer would want to ensure several differentiated activities for each lesson as well as web links that would explain concepts more thoroughly . That way if a student does not understand a concept , it could be explained in a variety of ways The activities should be as interactive as they can be . ALPS also discusses a Learning Spiral method that seems to ensure learning in a variety of ways from a variety of sources .
