characters in the movie is Matthew Harrison Brady as he becomes the very center of the plot and goes from being a strong self-confident man , to a person who comes out to lack inner strength in reality and eventually breaks down

Bartram Cates is seen to be a curious and quiet character in the movie He continuously tries to stand his ground and we see him struggle for his belief . We see him close to Rachel and near the end we see how his struggle and his strength managed to open doors in Rachel 's mind as well

E . K . Hornbeck

It is Hornbeck who is the very person who presents the idea of calling Brady as a witness in the movie . Hence , the atheist E .K . Hornbeck comes as the master mind of the turning of the case in favor of Drummond in the movie
