In 1929 they United States of America 's stock exchange market stopped functioning , United States being a very influential country world wide sunk into an economic crisis , America itself suffered the great depression . During that time many citizens of the United States faced difficult life , they lacked basic necessities , like food and proper housing , there was no employment , most of them could not pay their bills and the living standard went below the poverty life , they survived with more or less than a dollar a day . to support the banks and other financial institutions when they ran out of money was the main causes of the great depression in America and it contributed to the collapse of the stock exchange market Americans had a hard time in their lives , economic has never been so bad in America and even worse more was the fact that even natural calamities did no spare them , Miami hurricane hit America around that time when it was not doing well . It left most parts of Florida completely destroyed many people went missing and others lost their lives , those who were lucky to survive were left without homes and emotionally traumatized all the buildings that were left standing were not safe for any one to live in and so the government had to put up others urgently because people needed homes and social amenities like schools and hospitals this strained the economy even more

It was around that time when America was experiencing the great depression that Franklin Roosevelt was the governor of the New York , he later played an important role in helping the states overcame it Roosevelt was born fifty years earlier before the great depression set it feet in America , as a young lad he had shown an outstanding talent in leadership , in high school and at the Harvard University where he studied law . He married in 1905 and half a decade later he joined politics . He supported the democratic party and this marked the beginning of his brilliant career in politics that saw him reach for the big office successfully in 1933 . He was a man full of determination and one man that was liked by most people during the time he served the Americans as their leader , his love for politics was so much that nothing could make him retire even an attack by polio that paralyzed him for some time could not stop him from working for his country and no amount of pressure would convince him to retire from politics . He did not allow anyone or anything block his vision and his dream came true when he was elected as he governor of the New York and it was through his work in the government that he felt the impact of the depression The economy deteriorated to the worst within a short time , Roosevelt felt and saw the against the economic crisis .
