The purpose of this study is to assess the success level of current adolescent smoking prevention /cessations programs and how the effects of emotional intelligence can increase success . The information gathered and analyzed , provide how an increased level of emotional intelligence competencies in adolescence could enhance smoking cessation programs

br There is an increase in the use of tobacco among adolescents . This increase usage has prompted the need for successful prevention and cessation programs . This research is a critical review of previous literature of emotional intelligence , cessation programs and adolescent behaviors . In addition , the collected data offers an insight to how emotional intelligence is a necessary tool in current prevention programs
