The issue of illegal immigrants has been a contagious issue especially in the United States . People immigrate for various reasons for instance to escape from harsh climatic conditions and political unrest like war and conflict . Just like other legal citizens immigrants have a right to be accorded equal civil rights as citizens of the country they

are living in . This is written to support the accordance of equal rights to illegal immigrants with the country of citizens

Immigration can be defined as movement by an individual from country of residence to a permanently new country of residence (Ashabranner , 1996 Individuals are motivated mainly by pull ' or push ' to immigrate into new countries (Leo , 1997 . Pull simply means that an individual is attracted to immigrate by new way of life which is different from the normal monotonous lifestyle while push implies that one finds it necessary to immigrate for the purpose of surviving . It can be argued that these motivations are the core ingredients that drive people to immigrate . On the other hand , there are various reasons which lead to the two motives . Individuals can be pushed to immigrate due to unemployment , thus they move to new countries to find jobs as well as escape political persecution (Judi 's , 2006 . Continued living for immigrants in their country endangers their life and well being due to personal ideals . On the other hand , in family reunification people are pushed to immigrate to join their other family members who immigrated earlier . Illegal immigrants can also be pushed to immigrate for religious freedom in case their native countries restrict their religious rights . Consecutively , others are pulled in to seek fortunes in what they view as lands of opportunity and also improve their living standards . Others immigrate to seek well-paying jobs and education while others immigrate to what they see as free environments in business terms

Immigration comes along with negative implications besides positive implications to both the immigrants and the natives . Immigrants leave their countries which have distinction peculiarities in terms of custom language , habits , dress manner , morals , politics and institution to new countries with new values (Barry Robert 1992 . Those who already have their values and principles embedded in their young ages have difficulties adjusting to new ones or find old ways difficult to leave behind . To the natives , patriotism is natural but has to be cultivated in immigrants as they get assimilated in the new system . In many cases illegal immigrants are treated with contempt by the natives because of the anxiety that they cause on them . The natives view illegal immigrants as competition for their jobs and resources as well as eroding their culture , principles and values .
