HUME In our modern world , our decision in making choices has been studied and argued through out the centuries . Many philosophers proposed different views why we make certain choices . Some philosophers believe that choice is based on free will are not determined by characteristic factors such as values , desire and many other more and some believe that free will needs determining factors . These arguments have been on going for centuries and still have not been resolved . No single philosophical view about free will and determinism has been formulated . The philosophers cannot

choose a unity belief whether we have free will that is affected by determining factors or not . But if actions are done with out determining factors then how can a person be responsible for his certain action ? David Hume , one of the famous philosophers who formulated the thought that free will is determined by characteristic factors , stated that free will is compatible with determining factors and cited some reason why it is true . I will argue that free will is determined by certain factor as stated by David Hume and state some strong points of compatibility
Currently , there are two different views with regards to free will which are the incompatibility and the compatibility view . One of the views states that free will are actions not determined by external factors such as personality , desire and such . This approach is called the incompatibility approach , which argues that free will is incompatible with determinism . Determinism is a philosophical view that states that actions are caused by an unending chain of past actions . In the other hand , an opposite view is also proposed which states that free will is actions that are determined by external factors . This view is called compatibility , which states that free will is compatible with determinism . In compatibility , actions are done because of determining factors and therefore we could say that a person is responsible for his actions . These two views have been the two directions in a person decision making choices and the argument of free will . This leads to an argument whether there is free will or not
The incompatibility philosophers claim that if there is no deterministic universe then there is free will of choice Incompatibility has been classified into two sectors which are the libertarians , who say that there is no deterministic in the universe and the hard determinists , who say that there is no free will because we have a deterministic universe which is also called pessimistic incompatibility . Incompatibility has separated free will with determinism . They say that there is no freedom if they is a force that creates an action . In a large scale , if a country is under marshal law then the people will have actions that are determined by the laws of the marshal law so that they would be in trouble . It clearly shows that there is no freedom because people 's actions are determined by some factors . They also state that there is two roads in what actions...
